Ammoudi is the port for the
town of Oia and it lies around 150 metres immediately below Oia at the base of a spectacular red volcanic cliff. It is a tiny
settlement with a few waterfront taverna’s and a variety of local fishing boats. Tourist boats leave from here daily
to the island of Thirassia and the volcanic island of Nea Karmeni. Oia was originally connected to Ammoudi by more than 300
steps but it is now possible to drive down since a road now links the two.
