| Looking toward the gorge from Kardamili |
Kardamili is a quiet coastal village with a small fishing fleet. It is lapped by the Ionian Sea and shadowed by Mount Profitas
Iliasat at 7,933 feet, the highest mountain in the Taygetos. From Kardamili narrow steep paths and goat tracks lead upwards
into the hills towards the Viros Gorge...
For the less enthusiastic it is possible to avoid the steepest tracks by
taking the roadway up to the village of Exhori and joining the gorge from there.
