The journey to Kalavryta is a not to be missed experience. The little rack and pinion railway runs from the coastal town of Diakofta on the Gulf of Corinth, climbing slowly for 22.5km along gorges, past cliff faces, through woods and 14 tunnels, alongside rivers, across bridges through breathtaking scenery and arriving to Kalavryta at 756m (2480ft)
